Beginning with Breath is a masterclass directed by Paul Allain, trainer, teacher, movement director and director. Allain is Professor of Theatre and Performance and Dean of the Graduate School at the University of Kent, Canterbury, UK.
He has published extensively on actor training, with a particular focus on contemporary Polish theatre. In 2018 he was awarded the Witkacy Prize for his contribution to promoting Polish theatre overseas. The masterclass will introduce the breath as key element, as a way to shape and structure movement and voice, as a bridge into performance: “With the breath we are ready, prepared to work, to create”. Breathing is core to all movement and voice work and is vital for group bodywork.
